Connectedness Fundamental group

Defintion. XX is simply connected if XX is Path connected and the Fundamental group π1(X,x0)\pi_1(X,x_0) is trivial.

(does not depend on x0x_0 as it's path connected)

If X is simply connected then any two paths with the same initial point and the same final point are path -homotopic (they basically form a loop)
